8 Must-Have Summer Skin Care Tips
Summer can be tough on your skin due to increased exposure to UV rays, heat, and humidity. Here are some essential summer skincare tips to keep your skin healthy and glowing:
- Use Sunscreen Daily:
- Sunscreen protects your skin from harmful UV rays that can cause sunburn, premature ageing, and skin cancer.
- Tip: Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Apply it generously on all exposed skin 15-30 minutes before going outside.
- Stay Hydrated:
- Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated from the inside out.
- Tip: Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day & remember we always say it doesn't just have to be plain old boring water. Chill some green tea, have a good quality iced coffee, just hold the sugar & syrups. You can also top up the hydration of your skin with a hydrating mist or facial spray or if you're make-up free , even add some more moisturiser during the day.
- Moisturise:
- Even in the summer, your skin needs moisture to stay healthy and balanced.
- Tip: Use a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturiser like The Hydrator, to keep your skin hydrated without clogging pores.
- Cleanse Gently:
- Sweat and increased oil production in summer can lead to clogged pores and breakouts.
- Tip: Cleanse your face twice daily with The cleanser to remove dirt, oil, and sweat without stripping your skin of its natural oils.
- Exfoliate Regularly:
- Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells and keeps your skin smooth and radiant.
- Tip: Exfoliate 1-2 times a week with a gentle exfoliator. Avoid over-exfoliating, which can irritate your skin & take too much of the much needed protective barrier away.
- Wear Protective Clothing:
- Clothing can provide an extra layer of protection against the sun.
- Tip: Wear wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses, and lightweight, long-sleeved shirts when spending extended time outdoors. You could also seek out the range of UV clothing available especially if you're in the water.
- Avoid Peak Sun Hours:
- The sun's rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- Tip: Try to stay in the shade or indoors during these hours to minimise sun exposure. A great time for a power nap if you're on holiday.
- Use Antioxidant-Rich Products:
- Antioxidants help protect your skin from environmental damage and support skin repair.
- Tip: Incorporate serums or moisturisers with vitamin C, E, or other antioxidants like the Tasman pepper berry in our Hydrator, into your skincare routine.
